Background

Television plays a vital role on the world stage in terms of informing, engaging, and influencing the public, government, and international opinion on matters within respective countries.

Television also provides entertainment, and in some instances, Television News has influenced the outcome of major events around the world.   OneStar provides this opportunity to Liberians.

Purpose

Our purpose is simple: “Provide a mechanism that will allow the global Liberian Community to connect through “televised” news, and programs, utilizing the internet”.

Vision

-  To develop programs, and as important, allow other entities to broadcast programs over our global network. Note that any concept that is being broadcast on major networks can be tailored to our community and broadcast on OneStar,

-  That this “network” will provide Liberians an opportunity to utilize their creative talents, and generate revenue for their respective initiatives.  We also envision the network becoming a place to celebrate our culture, highlight our  role models, and influence our   future.

Business Moodle

Social Responsibility - OneStar will support Liberian (501-C-3’s) Churches, School Organizations, Civic Organizations and Charities by:

-  Donating a portion of the proceeds from our 6-month, and 12-month subscription fees to an organization of the subscribers choice (see Appendix “A”) for as long as the subscriber maintains the subscription.

-  Allowing these organizations to broadcast their programs on OneStar at little or no cost (see Appendix :B”).

-  Broadcasting video clips of entities in Liberia that these Organizations support.

-  Allowing entities that are not 501C-3’s, are not “profitable”, but broadcast programs that are deemed to be in the interest of the Liberian Public, consideration  to broadcast at little or no cost (at the sole discretion of OneStar Network).  Contact us at promotion@onestarnetwork.com

Inclusion (Third Party Business Opportunities)

Allow entities other than OneStar to broadcast on OneStar’s global network, for a fee.  These entities may in turn, charge a subscription fee for their program. For more information:  Contact us at broadcast@onestarnetwork.com

OneStar’s Strategy

As a starting point, we are broadcasting a news program (“On The Spot" – see Appendix “C”) from Liberia on weekdays.  We expect that as the network grows, OneStar and other entities will provide additional programming (for a fee).

-  OneStar charges a subscription fee because: The size of our market, compounded by the cost of video production (as opposed to online newspapers) is more than we can recover through advertising.

-  We operate an office and studio, maintain a full time staff of reporters, camera operators, IT specialists, video editors etc.

-  We have a vehicle to transport our reporters, and have other operating expenses (e.g. expenses related to accompanying the President on trips out of Monrovia)

-  We use professional broadcasting equipment

-  We proudly compensate our staff at higher rates than the expected Liberian pay scale.  The average income of our staff is over 200% greater than they earned prior to joining OneStar .

-  We feel strongly that to connect the community we must set an example, and paying our people a fair wage is a good start

Appendix “A” – Promotion Codes

-  Each 501C-3 will submit an application that includes their Tax ID Number and mailing address (E-mail to promotion@onestarnetwork.com).

-  Each 501C-3 will be assigned a unique Promotion Code.  Individuals who want a portion of their subscriptions to go to that specific -organization will input the code when they pay for the subscription.

-  The 501C-3 organization will receive a portion of the subscription, for as many years as the individual subscribes to OneStar.

-  As an example, sign up 100 customers for a year and receive approximately $466 annually.

Note:  Entities that are not 501C-3’s, but serve a public interest may be considered for this opportunity.  Consideration may also be given to individual marketers if we do not attract enough subscribers through our 501C-3 initiative.

Appendix “B”- Broadcast Opportunities

Program Examples

-  Churches can utilize the network for broadcasting Sermons, Choir Performances and Church Programs.  We do not recommend broadcasting entire services.

-  School and Civic Organizations and broadcast highlights from their reunions, or other messages they want their members, or the public to see.

-  Charities can promote their initiatives on the Network.

As long as your content meets our criteria, OneStar will be receptive to you broadcasting on its Network.

Recording and Broadcasting

Organizations will be responsible for taking and editing their videos.  OneStar will upload, or provide the organization the ability to upload the videos.

As opportunities arise in Liberia, OneStar will record interviews, etc at entities that are supported by the 501C-3’s.  You may also record videos in Liberia for broadcast.
